Runner and hoarder are synonymous with each other. When was the last time you ever met a fellow runner who didn’t have a pile of old running shoes stored away in their closet for any number of reasons that just might need them. Well, we are here to help you out in your hoarding and actually reward you for it! Bring your used running shoes to the run this week and for every pair that you donate, we will give you a raffle ticket to win some swag. Pretty sweet deal eh?!?
Its a few weeks off yet, but have a Legacy Run coming up. Mark your calendars for November 6th as we will be running from O’Doherty’s that night with DJ Marathon rocking the house two weeks in a row!
But before for that, get those Halloween costumes ready for the annual Flying Irish Halloween Party on October 30th! We have Seahawks jerseys for the best male and female costumes (or if we can’t tell who you are we will take an estimated guess) and of course there is also the custom firepit that Deschutes Brewery will be giving away that night. I highly recommend you don’t dress up as a witch though. You can help yourself out with your chances to stay warm and be the envy of all your friends by joining in on the Flying Irish runs through October. Each time you do is a free entry!

2014 Flying Irish Grant
Have you ever had the opportunity to run a race but decided you couldn’t do it because it was too expensive? Or you really want to run your first X race and couldn’t pull the trigger on signing up? Well, the Flying Irish Running Club wants to help you get to that starting line with the first ever “FLYING IRISH KEEP ON RUNNING” GRANT!!We will be awarding three Grants this years for a grand total of up to $400 to help our members out in accomplishing the Flying Irish’s mission of promoting an active lifestyle through running. What you need to do to apply for the Grant is follow the link below and download the application. Deadline for the submission of applications is November 13th. If you are brand new this year or have over 100 runs we are looking for members who are interested in serving as our Newbie and Long-term Member Reps respectively for next season. If you are please reply back to this email.
But its also that time of the year where we look for nominations for the Board positions that will be up for election this year. We have 4 positions up for election which are:

Volunteer Coordinator

Photo Contest
We love seeing photos of our members. We love seeing photos of our members wearing their Flying Irish shirts even more! Why not encourage that even more and also give our members a chance to win something as well? To that we created the Flying Irish Running Club Photo Contest!
