Let’s Give Thanks!
As you know Thursday is Thanksgiving, so we will not be running that evening from the hotel. Instead, you can participate in the annual Turkey Trot at Manito Park, starting at 9:00 AM, and have that run counted as a Flying Irish run! Look for the Flying Irish tent in the park near the corner of 18th and Grand to sign in. There are no registration fees, but 2nd Harvest will have a truck onsite accepting non-perishable food and cash donations. See you at 9:00 AM this Thursday at Manito Park!

Flying Irish Board Elections
The following members were nominated for the board positions up for election this year. Elections will be held at the End of Season Party on Dec 1st.
Candidate for President~ David Lund
“My 7 years with the Flying Irish running club has been a fantastic journey with some amazing people. I have developed many friendships through weekly runs and continue to be inspired by the hospitality and generosity Flying Irish members. I have a passion for running, a passion for friendships, and a passion for having fun. My hope as Grand Poobah is to foster and develop great relationships among our club members by reaching out to participants and encourage them to participate in weekly runs, to dress up on themed runs, join us in parades, cheer for other members at races, and be proud to belong to the greatest running club on the planet. As president of the club, I will foster an environment where people can reach out to others to introduce themselves and develop friendships. As members of Flying Irish…we run together, drink together, and party together. I shall be honored if you re-elect me, David Lund, as Grand Poobah.”
Candidate for President~ Brendan Dowling
“First off, I would like to thank the current Board, particularly David Lund. They have done a tremendous job of leading the Flying Irish over the past year. So why make another go leading the best running club in the world? Well, from the year off of being the President/Grand Poobah I have been approached by many members thanking me for my time leading the Club and also my energy/enthusiasm because it spilled over into their lives and their love for running. And that is why I am running again for President; to once again provide that energy and enthusiasm into people’s lives through the Flying Irish. My goal is the same of the Flying Irish’s: make running fun. For those of you who are new to the Club and haven’t met me in-person yet I served as Grand Poobah from 2008 through 2015 leading the Club to where it is now including making it a non-profit. Plus, I’m the one who provides the in-run entertainment. The Flying Irish isn’t just another running club it should be THE running club that leads the pack. I think we need to get some of that excitement and energy back that the Flying Irish has always been known for and other clubs have been envious of. We should bring back pub crawls and theme runs, have more pre/post-run entertainment, have greater access to Ripple’s patio during summer runs, upgrade our milestone shirts to the latest tech fabrics and printing including a reflective printing of the logo and actively pursue creating Flying Irish chapters in other cities so that wherever you may be on a Thursday night you can always run with the Flying Irish. Now let’s take it to the next level and surpass anything we’ve done before!”
Candidate for Treasurer ~ Bret Whitesides
“My background in business, now coupled with a year of experience in navigating the tax code and monitoring the financial status of the Flying Irish, has made me a strong candidate. In addition, I learned to wear collared shirts and act boring at official events to match the perception of an actual accountant (no offense to the actual accounts- who know they neither dress like nerds nor lack a sense of humor).
Please send your votes my way… as it would be very damaging to my ego to lose to ‘None of the Above’.”
Candidate for Sponsor Liaison ~ Nicole Lund
“I am excited to be given a chance to run for re-election as your Flying Irish Sponsor Liaison. I’ve enjoyed working with vendors and sponsors over the last two years and I look forward expanding my scope and focus to include more races and independent sponsors if elected for another term. Thank you for giving me chance to serve and considering me for the position in the future.”
